NBC4 NEWS recently featured the Sightlines Chinatown and Beyond exhibit in a news segment that aired on Saturday, May 3rd at 9:30 AM EST. The segment spotlighted the three featured stories in the exhibit.NBC4 Anchor Eun Yang interviewed both Acting Director of the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center (APAC) Yao-Fen You and the exhibit curator Dr. Sojin Kim. During the interview, the importance of cross-cultural bonds with the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community were emphasized. Simba Dojang’s story was prominently featured and we’re so proud to have been represented in such a meaningful way. We gathered to learn the origins of SIMBA history starting with Korean Grandmasters Soo Woong Lee and Ki Whang Kim. You can become an important part of this history by filling out the above survey.
Thank you to distinguished speakers including Grandmasters Soo Woong Lee (video) Furman Marshall and Albert Cheeks. In addition there were contributions from SIMBA Masters Dolores Muhammad, Robyn Short, Robert P. Wood and Reginald Moten. Smithsonian Curator Sojin Kim and Blackbelt Michael Marshall.
The Summit occurred from 10:30 am sharp until 1 pm.
